cookie policy
the short version
this site sets no cookies at all until you choose to accept them. we run no advertising trackers and no third-party pixels. the only optional thing we use is Google Analytics 4, and it stays switched off unless you say yes.
what a cookie is
a small file a website asks your browser to store. some are needed for a site to work; others record what you do so someone can measure or advertise to you later.
strictly necessary
one value, gdj-consent, recording whether you accepted or refused analytics. it is stored in your browser for twelve months so the notice stops asking. it contains nothing that identifies you and is never sent to a third party. this one is set regardless, because without it we cannot remember your refusal.
analytics — only if you accept
if you choose “that’s fine” we load Google Analytics 4, which sets _ga and _ga_<id> in your browser for up to two years. these give us anonymous, aggregated counts: pages viewed, time on page, rough country or city, device and browser, and which site or search sent you. we run it with IP anonymisation on, and with Google Signals and ads personalisation switched off, so it is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
what we don’t do
no Meta pixel, no advertising or retargeting tags, no session recording, no heatmaps, no fingerprinting, and no selling or sharing of browsing data.
if you refuse
nothing on the site stops working. no analytics script is loaded at all — it is not loaded and then told to stay quiet, it is never fetched. we also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a refusal without asking.
changing your mind
use the cookie settings link in the footer of any page. refusing after having accepted stops any further collection; to remove cookies already set, clear site data for this domain in your browser.
hosting logs
our host keeps standard server logs — ip address, browser type, pages requested — for security and to keep the site running. these are not cookies, and we do not use them to profile you.
